Restore the Roar

A Lenten Sermon Series

Sometime around the year 762 BC, the prophet Amos, a herdsman from the small Judean town of Tekoa, heard the voice of God—and he described it as the roar of a lion.

ā€œThe Lord roars from Zion and thunders from Jerusalem; the pastures of the shepherds mourn, and the top of Carmel withers.ā€ (Amos 1:2)

This was no gentle sound. God’s roar shook the land, exposing injustice, complacency, and hardened hearts. In Amos 3:12, the prophet encounters the Lord again as a Lion—one who confronts sin, calls His people to repentance, and demands justice and righteousness.

This Lent, we listen for the roar once more.

  • Ash Wednesday

    Hearing the First Roar

    Dinner | 5:30 PM
    Worship | 6:30 PM

Ash Wednesday provides us the opportunity to pause, reflect, and repent as we begin our Lenten journey. As we hear the first roar of the season, we are reminded of our sin, our frailty, and our deep need for a Savior.

Marked with ashes, we return to the Lord in humility, hearing both the weight of the Law and the promise of the Gospel. The Lion’s roar calls us to repentance—not to leave us in the dust, but to draw us toward the Cross, where forgiveness and life are found.

Join us for dinner at 5:30 PM and worship at 6:30 PM as we begin Lent together, listening for the roar that leads us from repentance to redemption.

  • Sundays in Lent

Throughout the Sundays of Lent, we will gather to hear the roaring voice of God—a voice that first speaks the Law, exposing sin and calling us to repentance, and then proclaims the Gospel, declaring that the night of judgment is ending and the dawn of resurrection hope is near.

    As the Lion roars:

    Complacent hearts are awakened

    False securities are stripped away

And weary sinners are drawn back to the Cross

Gathered under Christ’s cross, we will stand in awe as the roaring Lion defeats His greatest enemies: sin, death, and the devil. And with resurrection joy, we will confess:

ā€œThe Lion of the tribe of Judah… has conquered.ā€ (Revelation 5:5)

    Worship Times:
    • Classic Worship – 8:00 AM
    • Modern Worship – 10:30 AM

  • Wednesdays in Lent

    Beginning February 18

As the Lion’s roar calls us on Sundays, we return midweek to gather again at the Cross. Our Wednesday evening Lenten services invite us to listen more closely to the roaring voice of God—a voice that shakes the earth, exposes sin, and proclaims salvation through Christ crucified.

Each week, we will reflect on the story of the Cross and the power of the Lion’s roar as it moves us from darkness to light, from judgment to mercy, and from death to life. In Word, prayer, and worship, we will be drawn deeper into the hope that flows from Christ’s sacrifice and points us toward the victory of Easter.

    Dinner: 5:30 PM
    Worship: 6:30 PM

  • Maundy Thursday

    The Roar Grows Quiet

    Evening Worship | 6:30 PM
    (No meal before service)

On Maundy Thursday, the Lion who roars becomes the Servant who kneels.

We gather to remember the night Jesus was betrayed, entering the upper room where He humbly gave Himself to His disciples and established the meal that still feeds us today. In bread and wine, we encounter the Savior whose quiet strength would soon give way to a roar that shakes heaven and earth.

Come and remember with us as we receive the gift He instituted—a gift given in love, on the eve of the Cross..

  • Good Friday

    The Roar in the Darkness

    Service | 7:00 PM

On Good Friday, the roar of the Lion is heard in suffering.

We descend into the solemn darkness of this holy day, walking through the account of the Crucifixion and standing beneath the Cross. Here, the weight of sin is fully revealed, laid upon Jesus—the perfect, spotless Lamb—who bears it willingly for us.

This service invites deep reflection, repentance, and awe as we witness the cost of our salvation. We will depart in silence, waiting in hope, trusting that the roar has not ended, but is poised to break forth when the stone is rolled away

  • Easter Sunday

    The Roar That Conquers Death

The roar does not end at the Cross.

On Easter morning, we gather to celebrate that the grave could not hold our King. The Lion who roared in judgment now roars in victory, proclaiming resurrection, restoration, and eternal life.

Join us—and invite your friends and family—as we rejoice in the triumph of Christ.
